today in class I noticed that not every one of you believed in the fun of e-mailing. If you use Hotmail or outlook I can understand!

Especially when the big group mails are coming with a lot of reply's! But we are very luky that our friends from Google gave us a solution.

GMAIL:woohoo:GMAIL.

This works really good, just go to www.gmail.com en subcribe yourself. And enjoy the group mails.

True, it is the best so far. Also its spam filters are very good. That is the main reason why I stopped using Hotmail and Mail.ru -- impossible to find a friend's letter in the mailbox...

Roel, you are absolutely correct GMAIL is different than all other web email or email clients like outlook.

Their philosophy is just like on the web - SEARCH !
I remember them having a slogan "SEARCH don't file or delete your email ever again"

This saves users time indeed.

Did you notice that reading email is a bit like reading discussion threads in forums? ... In fact Google was inspired by the increasing popularity of the modern online discussion forums.

Remember however it not easy to change peoples habits. Many people will continue to use a filing system with folders.

Okay, so I was just now convinced to use Gmail instead of my regular ISP provided mailbox. I knew already that companies like Google, Apple, Johnie Walker really understand how to improve life, but again Google scored on this one..

yes I noticed that they have the forum thing going on. It works especially with a group mail! Instead of 15 new e-mails you have everything in order!

Indeed they didn't had an option to delete, but lukily the have it now. Within the mail searching is also very easy.
If you have gmail you also get a lot of extra features. Calender, Documents and photos.

It works really good!

I can affirm this, I used to use hotmail but since a month or so I am using gmail too.

Its layout is really good and also has a lot of good functions.

Thereby I think @gmail.com is a little bit more formal then @HOTmail.com ... sounds a little bit like a porn website, isnt it

Like Roel I'm a gmail fan, yes it's really good.
Before I had hotmail, one day when loging in, it didn't work, I put my password three times and they blocked it! So now guys you know that if you want to close your hotmail account just put a wrong pasword three times and that's it!

Yes, I also like very much the "Search" option and having the conversations of the same topic together! It's really useful!

I have two doubts:

- I can't create labels with different colours for groups in my inbox and I've seen that other people can. It is something to do with the difference between the gmail.com account & googlemail.com account? I don't understand why.

- Does gmail have the option to send mails and receive confirmation of reading? How can i do this?

I have the same problem with the labels. We have a old account. maybe for you it is possible to switch to new version in the upper right corner.

Ans the answer to your second question is NO!! Gmail believes that how you spend your private time is private!! You will get a message if not delivered, else it is delivered!!
